Today i tried this Ui (Infinity 0.2.8) for the first time and i like it a lot. I found extra widgets on the forum which is great! All i need now is a way to add contacts to the desktop shortcuts to call ...) and i am set!

Well, I am running a windows 7 theme right now, with all the blue (or whatever color I choose) blocks, and I actually like it better than just about everything else I have used. By voicing your opinion on the Metro look, be prepared for some of us to think its great. Its simple, visually easy, and something very different than anything else out there. I have it set up with ThrottleLauncher and they use an active background, which really adds something to the theme. I know I am not going to get one when it first comes out, but I plan on it.

I have always had nothing but luck with any windows product, and plan on sticking with them. If they do put out a lousy product, by the time I can afford it, or my previous contract is over, I will have plenty of warning and not get it.

So what I plan on doing is waiting to see if it truly isn't customizable, and if not, I will continue with my Imagio. If it is, then I will be sporting a new phone within 2 years!

yep ill agree with you there, that is one thing that has let me down from full customisation to none is a massive jump! Another is the mass windows live integration, since i sold my soul to google a few years ago android seems a more natural choice for me... and on that you can change the home screen to what you want to use even better imo. When 3.0 comes out then it will be even better as they are making it easier to customise the home screen so updates can be pushed easier therefore win win i think

I hope you're right, and I'm sure people will try however one thing makes me question it. How many custom front ends/hacks, or even internet based applications not authorized by microsoft are there for the Zune HD, once you answer that remember WP7 is Zune Phone.

I bought one a while back to play with thinking since it was based on Windows CE it would be customizeable and I could right all the cool apps I wanted for it. But that thing is sooooo locked down and XNA is crippled version of .net(POS). They made it really easy to right stopwatches and "space invaders" for it. BFD, THANK YOU MICROSOFT. If you can't write internet chat applications you sure can't write driver replacements.

I prefer to have my own setup/looks and tweak things to the way I like/want them, with the iPhone and now coming up on WP7 that individuality disappears.

Just my two cents, but even though there has not been any updates for some time, lets not count this one dead yet. I was running an old iPaq QVGA device running WM5 until recently, and found many great things for it, even though 6 and 6.5 came out. I say until we hear from the developers that this is in fact a dead UI, lets continue supporting them so that they understand that there are some who would continue to use 'older' systems and would love to continue using this UI.

Now, to be honest, I am not using Infinity right now, but not because of its lack of performance. Just right now, I found Throttlelauncher to be working best right now for what I need. Infinity is faster and I think a little more stable, just that there have not been enough development for widgets, or apps, or whatever you want to call them.

And no, I can't program. I haven't touched programming since the old days of Extended Basic! But I can support good programmers and am willing to offer my system to anyone wanting a tester.

I say lets not complain about which system is better, or which whatever is more like the others. Lets continue to show Ageye that we like his system, and hope that he continues to update, or even allow others to work with him to continue the process of upgrading.

silverlight is to make web apps look less disgusting and XNA is the biggest farce i've ever seen for programming client apps, it's nothing but a wrapped up and locked down .net. will the default UI be better than wm6 sure, but you're also going to be stuck with it for the life of your phone. WP7 is not a replacement for WM 6 it is an attempt to compete with Iphone and android. Any one who intentionally bought a WM phone for what it is will have a hard time choking down Wp7.

while I have some serious issues with android, that will probably be my next phone unless microsoft changes their position on some key points before release.

Windows Phone 7 WILL be the best. Silverlight apps and XNA Framework games. WP7 will be awesome.

And because iphone has a very strict rules on app publising, you are always confident that when buying an iphone app, you are geting a super quality product, unlike AndroidoOs and other open source stuff.

I was a follower of this page and thread because i loved the infinity and it looked promosing. I thought there will be lots of new improvements and will be the best shell in market.

But as i didnt see any updates for 2-3 months i just left following. So i think this forum is not attracting anymore because people cant see any updates.

true but some diehards will stay with 7. if i was to buy now it would be android but a year who knows what, the iphone now in the 4th gen seems to actually be quite good....

But maybe there is a posibility to get one programmer (with a contract to not making any code public) kind of in the team of ageye to continue developement of this project (just an idea), if the project is discontinued by you.

Infinity does not replace anything, it runs as a own application. But it's definitely recommended to turn off TF3D while using Infinity to save system ressources.

Does the Infinity UI replace Touch Flo 3D on the TP2? Or does it work in conjunction with it? I am assuming that if it replaces Touch Flo, that I only have to turn off Touch Flo, not actually remove it. Is this correct? I have not tried it yet. But based on the video and the user comments, I like it.

I think that opening Infinity's code is just human. There are a lot of people out there who cannot buy a new expensive super mobile phone with the best software on it, so they are in need of something that'll make the use of their mobile phones easier and "happier". Open the code, I'm sure there are a lot of people willing to do something. It's a nice effort, it'll be a pity not to open it.

yes, if the project is over, make it open source, i think that users will add in future with a lot of work the compatibility for winphone7

infinity i think that is the best ui, but at the time there are some important feuture missing like communication widget, weather widget, and some option like the monitor off when i lock the device after some seconds, battery recharching status when phone is locked, hardware buttons personalization and links for winmobile options
we will see this in future release?

There will be always some people interesting for infinity, so don't kill it. You can just let it deside if it must die. I suggest you to let the community help developing this project, and if there is no interest in community, then you can let this project die. There are many devices that will run 6.1 or 6.5 for 2-3 years from now, this devices will love to see infinity running. I have hd2 and i not sure if i will install (upgrade rom) win7, so as a developer with experense in winmo & .netcf i will start learning your SDK/GDK. I not a designer so my result we be poor in graphics.... but i will give it a try!


p.s Is there a chance to see a .net extension library from you?? Of cource not free! You have achived a smooth and fast result with some nice controls. It would be nice to see something like resco controls.

The fullscreen bug and the cpu utilization issues are still present on the omnia 2 when running full screen applications.

I concur with the previous post, if you do not intend to release/commercialize this application please open source it. I am an experienced winmo programmer and would love to help with this project. i have no intention of moving to winmo7 assuming it is what we believe it to be.

I hate android myself, thats why i'll wait for winpho7.
And i love infinity, its really awesome. But if you are not going to update it, perhaps you can make it open-source?

Thank so much you for the update, Please continue on working on the UI, this UI is awesome it's so smooth and fast. I understand where your coming from but not everybody is going to switch over to WP7 and they did say they will continue supporting WM 6.x .

NIce job! My wishlist:
1. QVGA port
2. Contacts can be added to home screen
3. Connections widget, or ability too manage connections from menu on the top of the screen
4. Favorite Contacts
5. Many languages support in the letters of contacts

Windows Mobile is not dying in the near future. Microsoft and the partners announced that WP7 and WM6.x will co-exist and there will still be new Windows Mobile 6.x devices.
And some people can't affort a new device every Year and will use their WM6.x devices for some more Years.

You are right - Windows mobile is dies. Most users are switching to android.

But i hope you finish the work. WM 6.x devices will be used for some more years. Many of this users will use infinity if you keep going, so that you can earn a little bit for your work. Or you stop developing, and all the work will have been for nothing. It's just the finetuning the community is waiting for.

Thanks! And I think I have figured out my issue with the widgets locking up Infinity. This may seem odd, but I have a WVGA screen, and I have used several other UI's that were for QVGA or used widgets sized for QVGA without any problems. But the Hero widget and SenseClock widget all expressly state QVGA, and those two are the ones causing the issue. it took me several hours of playing with the widgets and installing one at a time, resetting and seeing the outcome. When I found the two that were locking me up, I checked for more details and found that the author did indicate QVGA. So that is good, now I am slowly updating my screen and seeing what I can and cannot do. I really enjoy the ease of everything, and the fact that its wicked smooth. Thanks Ageye!

The weather option at the clock works with the G-Weather Application by ageye. You need to buy G-Weather and install it.

Maybe not a killer after all! I just tried out the sms messaging shortcut, and holey smokes, I love how it completely changed what I was using. I was used to the black and white simple windows method, but this changed it to a much easier and eye pleasing set up! Fantastic work on that!

Ok, really really want to get a calendar and appointments widget installed. as well as some music control and a widget that shows weather conditions on the main page! Also, maybe a system status (shows memory available, percent used, battery status, signal strength) widget as well to show up. Is there anyone that can help show me exactly how to install these widgets!? I think that is the only reason I lock the system up, is that I must be installing incorrectly.

And believe me, I have no luck with computers or other electronic devices. I am the guy that breaks the unbreakable system!

Alright, I again installed Infinity, and again unzipped several widgets, and installed them in the correct folders (I think). For example, if the widget had a GFX folder, I installed it under the GFX folder in Infinity. If it had an LANG file, then it went into the LANG folder. Now, there were DLL files, and I assume they go into the maine Infinity folder? The widgets installed were .....wait, I notice something about the DLL files, they are in the widget file...I will move those installed and see if that works.

Edit - Nope, I moved them, but no change. I installed and unzipped wHero, wClocksense, and wMusic. With wMusic, it had the Image2Infinity.exe, I left that in the primary folder, the one with the infinity.exe file. I will uninstall each one, one at a time, see if one of them is causing the issue.

Edit - I am uninstalling (actually, just removing the files) for wMusic. And then soft resetting. I will then activate Infinity, and see if it works. If not, I will uninstall wHero and again, reset. If that doesn't do it, I will do wClocksense and that should give us an answer as to which one is not working well with my system.

And that didnt fix it, still cant start Infinity. Trying wHero....No, still can't get it to start. I am now going to re-install Infinity and see what happens.

Again, I am running a WVGA Imagio running a custom ROM with WM6.5 installed

Yup, infinity works as long as I don't install additional widgets. Kinda a UI killer for me, would love the ability to expand its usefullness past the 6 installed widgets. Anyone got anything out there that can help? Maybe I am installing them wrong. A step by step guide (other than - unzip to thier respective folders) would be helpfull as well?

Well, I guess I can give it another shot. If it occurs again, I will let you know. Might be something I am doing, or maybe I have too many things going at once. I will be sure the Infinity is the only thing running.

A SMS-Widget like on the HTC Sense for Android would be awesome.
Also a possibility to turn off internet connections and an icon in the taskbar is quite necessarily. Already cost me about 40€ because i forgot about it.

Please don't let this project die!! It's just a few steps(widgets) beafore it can be an everyday UI.
It would be nice if you announce a list of widgets that you are planing to implement, so the community can focus on other.

Just make on step forward and the community will be ON again.

It seems I can only have one additional widget or the system crashes. I liked its smoothness, but not when this is happening.

So, I was introduced to this UI on accident, thought I would give it a shot. But noticed that it expires in ten days. I assume that means this is not a fully funtional UI, jsut a demo?

Edit - Never mind. I unzipped some of the widgets, but it wont restart. So removed everything and reinstalled. But once I try to add more than one widget, I can't get it to re-start. It seems I can only have one additional widget or the system crashes. I liked its smoothness, but not when this is happening.

And I am running an HTC Imagio with WVGA screen running WM6.5 Custom NRGZ ROM. Will keep an eye on this, hope to see some widget improvements, and may give it a shot again!

it will come be patient, people lead busy lives and well calm down its only an interface

just stop flaming around and assuming things we cannot know. let's wait until infinity is finished and... well if you still don't like it, stick with maxsense or whatever you like. can't really get the reason for this useless discussion.

btw. what about extension of alpha trial version? (or even a new version? )

You are funny? Tell me how the X1i is not a real phone? I'm more worried about battery drain more than ram which Sense 2.5 does big time. Why do I need to switch to a Android phone when my phone can run Android 2.1 . BTW I never said I used all the interfaces at once I clearly stated that I can easily switch between them, and how can I use 6 separate panels at the same time?(Learn how to read) . And if you had any type of common sense you would know that Sense 2.5 and Titanium can't run at the same time, which made your running all the interfaces at the same time statement even more funnier. If you are seriously worried about sense taking up too much ram you need a real phone that actually has some to spare... though if you were to do that i'd advise just go with android considering nearly all wm interfaces are just bad duplications of that. Infinity is one of the best but there isn't a clean enough look to it especially the widgets, granted it is still alpha but once it's out i just hope the quality is worth the price. Ok so I watched the video to see what the hype is all about and was not really impressed. Credits to maxcy for the mod. Let me start off to say that Sense is a ram /battery hog to begin with. 2 The skins so far for max sense 1.0 are ugly and my W7 version of Sense 2.5 looks way better. 3. Their is no real innovation to this, it's still using the basic feature of Sense 2.5 just with 3 home pages and some new widgets. 4 Since when does Infinity cost money? 5. And most importantly in the X1 we have separate panels for Sense 2.5, Titanium, Adrokid, Iphonzz, pointui ,and Infinity. So what's to need to compete when you can use all the interfaces lol. quite frankly, I think that max sense can't compete with infinity ...
it's ugly, unstable and only has sense features (with the slider being removed so you have one more 1cm of free space you can't do anything with, yay!)
also ... 3 quicklinks on homescreen ?! i know about the quick links pages ... but they are as much swipes/klicks away as the shortcut in the start menu is ... so why bother adding and sorting them ? apart from the positioning of widgets being even worse than anything I have ever seen, there's nothing spectacular ... at least I haven't found that.
Still, great developing example, but unusable for me ...
REALLY hope for a fast development of infinity ... or I'll end up saving enough money to buy an android phone until then

don't underestimate infinity. maxsense is nice, but it's just a reorganized UI built with the sense features. i for example don't like sense, mainly because it sucks empty my battery in a day. with infinity, i can use my device (SE Xperia X1 with X2 ROM and, of course, infinity ) for about 3-4 days. so let's wait and see.
but despite the energy consumption i have to admit that maxsense looks promising.

I think Infinity is the most wanted (and profitable) application ageye is developing. So it would be great to see some progress going on! Even the 0.2.7 alpha is almost ready for every-day use, so you're coming close

Besides, June 15 is approaching, so could you please extend trial time on 0.2.7?

I'd gladly pay money for a complete release ... But I want something complete.

@ gottahavit I have the same problem with the taskbar to, I'm on CE OS 5.2.24001.

so here's a wierd one, I am playing with Infinity, however I have a killer right now. I have an app that runs in full screen and the Infinity title bar and bottom task bar keep popping on top of this window, like on a timer. Also Infinity eats the hardware button mappings this app uses.

Is there a way to turn off the Inifinity title bar and use thenormal windows title bar when running applilcations? BTW this on and O2 with 6.5.3

Also looks like Infinity uses a constant 3-5% CPU even when not active. I believe this is related to the constant popping up of the task bar and title bar.

Face Palm , I figured out how to change the image path. I would like to see Landscape support in the next release that's the only thing that sucks about the OS. Keep up the good work guys this turning into a killer OS .

ohh and PLEASE.. can you put a simple letter-counter in the window when youre texting..

cause i have only 160 letters for 1 textmessage.. and because i cant see how many letters i typed in infinity, i sometimes send 2 messages (with the second textmessage containing 1 or 2 letters)

I'm testing infinity on HD2. Everything works fine!

Here are my thoughts:

1)In Contacts list the pictures are streched stragly. Maybe you have to zoom instead of streching the image inside the rectangle (no option in cf.net but i'm sure you can implement it).

2)In programs list, when scrolling, the icons appears after the scrolling animation stops (I suppose that you are loading the icons only when they first need to appear on the screen). I can imagine that you implemented this for speed issues. Maybe an option for fast devices (HD2=1GHz)??

3)I thing the scrolling speed is too fast! Maybe an option (or registry value) to control the speed?? Maybe a value to set the maximum speed allowed, so the speed can be controled on slow and fast devices.

4)A de-acceleration factor option (or registry value) beacuse The scrolling animation stops Instantanly, it would be nice if the scrolling animation slowing down until it stops.

5)Contacts shortcuts widget

6)Handset icon on the top bar

maby an abillity to delete messages in the infinity mode, and modify contacts in infinity mode..

(now i have to close infinity to delete or modify)

it would also be great to get phone call and SMS notifications on the lock screen and also reminders

And a calendar / reminder widget would be great too...

maby the ability to put contacts on the main screen.. like a shortcut, and then the option between calling and texting.

since 0.2.7 release WinMo lock screen overlaps the Infinity lock screen sometimes, so you have to unlock both and can't see your very cool Infinity lock screen when turning on the display

I am having problems with my HD2 it appears that the folder besides the app icon has two icons and they're not working as untrusted !!!!
