[ALPHA] Infinity 0.2.8

If we release a new Infinity version we'll post it here...

Did some basic testing on 6.5.3 and it actually plays pretty nice with it. i see what you mean about opening programs, it loooks like you have made a new taskbar to replace the 6.5 one with the start and close X on top. Still, if the program is compatible with 6.5.3 then it works fine, the bottom taskbar still shows up. and Infinity overrides the bottom one fine.

Some observations:

- Scrolling is a little choppy, im sure will be fixed later.
- don't know about caching of the icons in the menus, it took a little while for them to load up the first time but was fine after that.
- Very fast! good response on menu operning (after first open), locking, and returning to home screen
- placing widgets is a little choppy and the touch seems to make it hard to place right where you want them.

Thats about all i can say, its a very basic release. All in all its very good for an alpha and i can't wait to see what you guys do with it! My 2 cents would be addressing those problems above and to make this shell override as much of Winmo as possible. I.e. A seperate SMS app, MMS, Comm. Manager, ect...
Winmo in itself is garbage but powerful so if you can use its power with better apps then you guys can strike gold here.

Thanks for your work and continue your great Shell!

Sure is heading in the right direction. I am looking forward to the completion (or atleast a Beta with most stuff implemented).

It may drag me away from SpbMS.

Put it on my Omnia i910 and here's a couple of bugs/suggestions;
Programs menu is slow starting up, with this whole "No Icon" deal it takes a long time to load everything (As Corwest stated with the whole caching of the icons)
There's no way to close Infinity afaik, had to soft reset
Lock screen is nice, a suggestion might be an animation after unlocking, instead of it just disappearing
Custom icon support would be amazing
Messaging icons, with notifications etc.
Love the drop down menu from the task bar.

Nice alpha release :)

Sorry to bring a bad report. It does run smooth on my phone but adding shortcuts or viewing the program list does not go well here. I do have custom .png icons within my startmenu (see in video) maybe that is causing the problems?

I have WM 6.5. The build number and stacktrace of the exception is shown in the video here: http://share.perkonix.nl/2009-12-31_1958.mp4

Good luck! If you want any further information (like registry settings for the png iconpath's) just ask :) I am happy to provide them.

Happy new year!

Wow is all i can say. I have a feeling that when finished this is going to rival spb mobile shell, scrub that have them quaking in their boots!

I cannot believe how fast it is.

There are so many great little additions to the interface that too many to list really. One major one taking over the top task bar impressive remap all of the buttons but not back?? Doesnt seem to do anything.

Also if you press back and some other things it seems to open the main task manager, volume bit..

I notice that when i put it next to my old phone on QVGA all of the graphics seem a little choppy? I know its alpha etc but in the release will they be smoother..

Also when i delvved into the registry looks as if it will be easy to back up the layout you have :D Was one thing that really stopped me using mobile shell!

Now itching to see the final release can we have that tomorrow....

Happy new year as well!

Very impressive beta. I ran it on my Omnia I-910 without errors. Added a few shortcuts and that worked fine. The taskbar looks great. I alos like the integrated task manager.

This is a great start.

Happy New Year!
